Meet Referee Reminders....

I would like to remind those of you that serve as a MEET REFEREE to please meet in advance with the meet director to insure that each event has the proper flashing equipment (i.e. start value flashers AND score flashers).  Please review the scoresheets PRIOR to starting competition to insure the judges names, ratings and event assignments are listed correctly on the official scoresheet. Please review the timing procedures with timers and double check that the order of athletes matches the OFFICIAL scoresheet for each event.  Please also instruct judges and judges assistants that START VALUE and SCORE are to be flashed SIMULTANEOUSLY.  Please make sure this happens as the coaches would like the judges to come up with their scores independently.  Please review any rule updates and review proper procedure of handling inquiries as needed. Please remain after the meet to review and sign scoresheets and complete routine evaluations if necessary. I bring these issues up as there have been complaints that some of these procedures are not being followed.
I hope the rest of your season goes well!
Take care,
Patty Vitale

Balance Beam Clarification

1-22-2010

Dear Collegiate Judges, Some confusion has arisen on Balance Beam regarding the additional D required if the acro series does not have CV bonus. Please read the following statement carefully. Choice of Acro elements not up to competitive level....... flat .1 - If a flight series without connective value is performed, then an additional D acro skill is required (mounts and dismounts MAY be included). Example: a backhandspring- layout stepout is performed as the acro flight series. (No CV bonus to this series, only the D bonus). The gymnast will need to perform an additional D outside of this flight series. The D performed may be the SAME "D." It does not specify that is must be a different D.
